Arrival at Cape Agulhas
We did it! On Sunday evening, 20.42 p.m. we - Marius Biela, Matthias Prillwitz and Rainer Zietlow - reached the final goal, Cape Agulhas, the most southern tip of Africa with our Touareg. Police officer Julia Anne de Brain stopped the time inside the car after 2 days and 51 minutes, the time it took us to get from Iringa in Tanzania, the place where the accident had happened, to Cape Agulhas - a journey of 4480 km.
Despite the accident and the following repair stop in Dar Es Salaam, we completed the 17.000 km long journey in 21 days and 16 hours and did still beat the record of 28 days from Nordkapp to Cape Agulhas, which was set in 1984. If we excluded the time which was needed to repair the Touareg, we got a result of only 8 days and 10 hours.
We are really happy that we completed Touareg CapetoCape successfully after all.
Many, many thanks go to Volkswagen, our sponsors and our loyal fans, who kept their fingers crossed through all these days and believed in us all the time.
