  • Roadshow (From 22nd of October to 4th of December)

On Wednesday the 22nd October we visited Tshebedisano Primary School in Pimville, Soweto, where we planted our first tree through “Food & Trees for Africa” for our carbon neutral campaign. It was great to see all the school kids, who sang traditional songs and celebrated trees being planted at their school. A big thank you to “Food & Trees for Africa” for organising this tree planting.  A small, but strong, Wild Olive tree was planted on a field behind the school building. This tree will provide much needed shade and act as a windbreak for the children. More trees will be planted at the school. In addition, “Food & Trees for Africa” announced that they will be planting the rest of the trees in South Africa along our route from the border to Zimbabwe to Cape Agulhas.

Rainer Zietlow supports the South African organisation for sustainability “Food & Trees for Africa” (FTFA) with 4.000 Euro. FTFA guarantees that “Touareg-CapetoCape” (including its scout tour, world record tour and roadshow in Africa and Europe) will be carbon neutral through the planting of 578 trees in townships in South Africa. These 578 trees will offset 213 tonnes of carbon dioxide as per the Greenhouse Gas Protocol and Voluntary Carbon Standard, more than the whole world record project requires.
